This is certainly not a new idea and has probably been done 

Some of the new tires like the M2 and M3 compounds the beads can stretch and make it hard to seat. I had that problem with my redrocks w/memory foams and rc4wd beadlocks.

Just like your willy, if you freeze rubber it shrinks. I put the foams and tires in the freezer for about 4 hours, the cold shrunk the bead and I was able to get a nice tight fit and secure the bead on the first try with each tire.

Works good on bushings in your 1.1 control arms too!

I just used this method now. The tires I got were so soft I couldn't get them in the bead and remembered reading this, so thanks! worked like a charm.
