After 3 esc smoke shows I'm ready to go back to nitro. >:(

At least when I had nitro I knew how not to destroy my engine...

With electric it seems like stuff just stops working because it feels like it.

It's not that nitro is dead, far from it really. Local racing still supports it and down south of us it's very healthy. The provincial racing scene has been a bit less than friendly this past season in particular to our nitro scene. Indeed nitro is not doing as well as it once did and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find places to run them.
There are some things I miss about running 1/8 nitro buggy but frankly my need for speed is covered by the electric 1/8 buggy.
I'm sure of this though, if they come out with a micro computer controlled fuel injected nitro engine for 1/8 buggy that requires no tuning watch em sell like mad.

Many customers who don't race have given up on nitro completely

Too much maintenance and tinkering for the average Joe these days

Heck people don't even want to trim and paint a lexan body  :o

and thats what the rtr craze has done to this hobby. everyone just wants the instant gratification, they dont want to do anything to get there.

I dont own a rtr the nearest is my tf2.Im the kinda guy that like to say i built it like my scud over 300 hours building that and other trail trucks i build are all one offs.Dont get me wrong nitro does have a place but thats in the for free section and the graveyards of rc.

Nice comments again from menotyou.I keep seeing more and more of your negative posts in regard to nitro power pop up all the time.I don't know if you have had really bad times with nitro or are just bored with life.I know when confronted you said you were just kidding or trying to get a rise out of whoever at the time and that is ok,but it never stops.imho i say if you hate nitro that bad, fine!! just fade to black on the subject and let the few of us that know how to really make them run well enjoy it.Yes i know how as i also build and maintain nitro motors that run 5 seconds in the 1/4 mile in the nostalgia funnycar class.Just for the record i have many nitro vehicles including  a twin  3.3 tmaxx and a 1/8th scale o.s. powered on road buggy/truggy that run flawless all/everytime with very little maintence.I have to say i only have one battery powered r/c  and that is a scale/trail truck which i also really enjoy running but still  call it flashlight powered to my son whenever we run these.I expect backlash for this and i can take it,but chose the battle carefully. >:( >:( >:( >:(
