« on: November 04, 2011, 01:54:36 PM »
Hey today just before heading out I was testing a different motor, well it ran ok for a second then lost all power but sounded like it was still working! What the heck happened??

maybe my title should be can a shaft be seperated from a comm..

happens all the time, the shafts are bonded to the magnet core of all brushless inrunner style motors, in outrunners the're bonded to the can and rotate around the windings. The shaft in this style usually have a locking system such as set screws or keys. ;)
There are no stupid questions, only that which remains unknown.

Cool, I never knew! I knew about the outrunner and a screw but this stock style motors shaft just spun itself loose I guess. So now the comm part spins free around the shaft! Useless.

And on that note,I purchased quite a bit of Loctite 638 for attaching flexshafts to prop shafts for the boats. It is stronger than silversolder or brazing. So if anyone has a need I have lots considering it only takes a couple drips.I'd be willing to try the magnet/shaft thing if anyone has the need.

I've done the loctite fix to a brushless motor.   8 packs later it is running fine.

Yeah the stuff he has sounds like cement pretty much with a great bond.
