Tekno rc revo 3.3 conversion
« on: August 20, 2012, 06:24:29 PM »
Hi I was wondering if anyone has the tekno v4 conversion or what opinions are on this kit, I'm thinking of building this with a MMM combo but wondering if it's strong enough for that kind of power

youtube it, its strong enough but you'll need to build your truck up around the brushless power, you'll be breakin driveshafts, half shafts, stripping gears constantly... I'd say make sure to do it right  ;D e-revo driveshafts, e-revo tranny or at least the gears.. youtube is your best friend  ;D

Also with that kit it has a cluch adapter helping to prevent the blow up of parts a little.  I would not make sense to have to go buy the gearbox etc for that would defeat the purpose of the conversion.  Although I would recommend the drive shafts.  With the clutch assembly it has that forgiving nature at start like a nitro but you will still have the electric power and for lots as in racing the softer initial blip of the throttle makes it easier to drive. I say get the conversion I have had one and it worked pretty good I did kill a few spur gears but never had to buy a reeve tranny.

I did the tekno conversion on an Revo 3.3 and I'm running 4s with it. I haven't broken any parts. I locked the transmission in 2nd gear and used the Mamba Monster ESC for braking, this way I don't have to worry about transmission breakdowns and also does away with the extra servo for braking. And one more thing... I used spacers with the motor mount to bring the motor closer to the spur gear and used a standard 20T Mod1 pinion gear. In my case, I only ended up using the Tekno motor mount and battery tray. I modified the throttle servo box to be used as the receiver box and made my own mount for the ESC.
