esc to battery problem
« on: March 24, 2013, 08:36:11 PM »
hey guys, just need some expert advise please.
I have a 1/5 scale 4wd buggy, im running a castle xl2 esc on 2 4 cell packs in series. I know its common to get a small spark when connecting your esc to your batteries but this is an under statement. the spark is so big it actually melts a spot on the connectors and makes a big black spot. I have t replace all the connectors after about 8-10 times I reconnect. I also run the big ass castle cap pack.
what is the solution to my problems? thank you in advance.

I have not been able to have a close look at that ESC.  Does it have an on/off switch an, if so, did you bypass it?

Hm.  Have you tried it without the extra capacitor pack?  Usually when there is a big spark like that it is a cap charging up, the more cap, the bigger the spark.

Can always install your own high amp switch on the car, put it in line on one of the leads on the car end going to the batt connector. Just need to make sure the switch is rated for the apms. Turn off switch, hook up, flick switch to power up
If it ain`t broke.... Try harder.....
