Body choices......
« on: May 08, 2013, 08:49:07 PM »
So with all the possibilities of some evening drifting, I was thinking.......

I have a light. it, but no body with light buckets.
What are some bodies in the 200mm size that come with buckets? I've looked around, but I get lost trying to find them.  Any suggestions?

I really want to embarass myself in front of NFG. I know he likes the blinky blinky stuff, but won't admit it. ::)

If you order by tomorrow, shipping is free.

I'm sure there's plenty of others out there as well.

Well, the usuals, like Tamiya and HPI, but I haven't found anything with light buckets installed.

http://www.hpiracing.com/hpibodies/200mm/

You'll usually get a better selection in the 190mm sections.

Yokomo makes some nice body sets and have light brackets available for most. Only thing is, I believe they are handled by online retailers as I've not found a manufacturers site...yet.

Also, here is a site that has light brackets for a number of Yokomo and Tamiya bodies.

these Yokomo you seek can be found http://www.rc-race-and-drift-japan.com/

And for some of us its about getting a little more scale detail on the cars. Just like some do on their scale trucks with the accessories.

The majority of Tamiya bodies come with'em and typically chrome to boot  ;D , but if you like deep dish wheels, then no dice, as Tamiya bodies are almost all 190mm.

Most of the newer HPI bodies come with them, though usually clear and minimal, still work good though.

If you're gonna order Yokomo make sure the buckets come with it, 'cause with a lot of the bodies you gotta buy them seperately, There usually pretty nice though.

The HPI site will show if the body comes with buckets. My EVO X I was running on Saturday has a full light kit installed, It just wasn't plugged in. Most are lexan, so if you want chrome buckets, you will need the chrome paint. I used foil tape and it worked ok, but the paint looks better.

Take a close look in the body description it usually tells on HPI's web site. The Sylvia, 350z, scion fr-s etc.....as said you could also make your own, just check for how to's on YouTube.

So I just picked up another TC3 and needed a new body for it. Well this is what I just bought....

http://www.hpieurope.com/piw.php?lang=en&partNo=17205

I am going with a white paint job rather than the traditional blue/yellow you see every day. I also plan to put lights in it eventually.

When it is all done I will post up some pictures but that may be awhile as once again I am stupid busy at work.

I have always had a soft spot for the Subaru WRC. But when I looked closely at the HPI body I saw that the plastic is strong due to the fender flairs and rounded nose and tail. I think this one will take a beating. Well it had better! As a beating it is about to get...
