the flux is a great basher. i dont have any first hand experience with the actual flux (i built a couple converted from nitro) so i cant really comment much on weak points, however i remember reading about an idler gear in the transmission is weak, but there is an upgrade. aside from that, the flux has the best drivetrain of any savage, and the rest of the truck is savage tough.

i say go for it.

I agree with sharkey. Any truck will do well as a basher. Plus a truck is only as good as you treat it.

My Savage Flux has taken a beaten and almost always kept on going! I only upgraded the slipper/sour to a robinson racing slipper/spur setup other than that I think the only other parts I have broken is a shock shaft and c-hub/knuckle in an accident with a large rock LOL
If it don't fit...force it. If it breaks...it was meant to be replaced.

Those rocks come out of no where too. I once hit my friends rc after the famous "watch this". I only broke my truck.  :-[

I picked up a used Sav. flux HP and Im guessing the $ I saved is all but spent on repairing. Its a tuff truck. And it will be tuffer after Im done replacing all the wear and tear from the previous owner.
I sold my Revo 3.3 to get into electric again. Ill never go back to Nitro, in saying that I found my Revo to be a tuff truck as well. Im a basher, and a novice at best, I have no finness, and I go out hard every time, I break (cow pie), and have fun doing it! Im always surprised how much abuse these things can take with out breaking!
